Chers consoeurs et confrères, You are invited to attend our annual Bistro Dinner, one of our more casual events of the year. This year, we will gather at Rive Bistro in Westport, a classic bistro run by Eric Sierra, formerly of Bistro des Amis. Located along the Saugatuck River and just a short distance from downtown Westport, Rive Bistro offers a warm, relaxed setting perfect for the evening. As with many of our events where wine is served by the Sous Commanderie, we often find ourselves with “odd bottles” remaining—one bottle of a Chassagne-Montrachet here, two bottles of a Gevrey-Chambertin there etc. This year, instead of letting those bottles rest quietly in our cellar, we’ve decided to share them with you. Throughout the evening, we will be serving these wines from previous events in a Paulee-style format, with wines provided from our cellar. It’s a rare opportunity to revisit and enjoy a variety of wines we’ve poured in the past, and to share them with your fellow Chevaliers. In prior years, these bottles were offered to members via silent auction. However, since the majority of our wines are acquired through the National Wine Committee’s program, we are not permitted to resell them. Sharing them with our members felt like the best—and most enjoyable—solution. We look forward to seeing you there and raising a glass together. EVENT: Bistro Dinner WHEN: Thursday, March 19th.
