As mentioned in an earlier email, this year’s Wine Committee Dinner will feature Laurent Drouhin of Domaine Drouhin as our honorary guest. Laurent is a fourth-generation member of his family’s historic domaine, founded in 1880 by Joseph Drouhin as a negociant house. The family purchased its first vineyard, Beaune Clos des Mouches, in 1921, and today Domaine Drouhin owns more than 100 hectares of acclaimed vineyards across Burgundy, with holdings in Griotte-Chambertin, Musigny, Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses, and Montrachet, to name just a few.
Our Wine Committee, chaired by Luke Davis, has carefully held back wines from Drouhin’s storied holdings in our cellar for this dinner, which we will enjoy alongside Laurent’s commentary. The evening will feature a range of both white and red wines, offering a rare opportunity to gain insight into one of Burgundy’s largest family-owned and operated domaines.
The Dinner Committee, chaired by Scott Zwilling, has collaborated with the Executive Chef Esdwin ‘Junior’ Magdonal of Le Fat Poodle in Old Greenwich, to create a four-course menu designed to complement the wines.
As is tradition for this dinner, the Membership Committee, led by co-chairs Anne Driscoll and Tim Gallagher, will also introduce this year’s potential new members during the evening.
Normally, the Wine Committee Dinner is reserved for members only. However, given the excitement of welcoming Laurent Drouhin and the exceptional wines being poured, we anticipate strong interest. Seating is limited to 60 guests, and sign-up will take place in two phases:
· Members’ Priority Registration: Now through Sunday, September 28th
· Spouses and Guests: Any remaining seats will open on Monday, September 29th
